CONGRATULATIONS to BFA's 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year, Mr. Alex Furst! Mr. Furst teaches Applied Math I & II, Algebra I, and Pre-Calculus.
Mr. Furst will be invited to UVM for the state-wide teacher of the year recognitions in the Fall.

Here are some of the things his students said about him:

"Math was always a struggle for me until I met Mr. Furst. He made it so much fun and better for me to understand. He makes learning math so enjoyable, and he works so hard."

"Mr. Furst is never in a bad mood; he is always full of energy and ready to teach his students."

"I think Mr. First should be recognized because he is a very kind, smart person. He supports his students and makes math fun and engaging for students to learn real-life skills to use after graduation or when they are adults."

"I enjoy working for Mr. Furst. I always look forward to his class, and he is a very awesome person."

Here are some things his colleagues had to say:

"Alex is always willing to help when needed. He is always willing to give his time to help kids and to help colleagues."

"Alex is often at extracurricular events to show his support. He also gives his time to support students through the Math League and is willing to tutor students who need help outside of the school day."

Amazing work by graduating senior Kyla Abair!!! Inspired by a mural her mother painted while attending BFA as a student and artist, Bev Doolittle, she dreamt of creating a work of her own to brighten the walls at BFA. Working with Ms. Bristol to create an independent study plan, she researched, produced written requirements, and created a final artwork that she can be proud of. Located in the BFA library, days after graduating herself, Kyla hung her 5' x 7' mural just around the corner from her mother's.
