A sad but important remembrance that cannot be erased or forgotten.
Today, we honor the memory of the Emanuel Nine and continue to commit ourselves to the work of justice, reconciliation and faith.
"Creator God,
You lovingly created every person in Your beautiful image. We confess that we have not loved and protected Your beloved creation well. Racism and hate continue to blossom, disfiguring Your beautiful and divine plan for human life.
Help our unbelief, O God, in the realities of racism and oppression; remove the scales from our eyes and our hearts. Forgive us for our participation, both knowingly and unknowingly, in its flourishing. Give us the courage to remember and share these true stories of cruelty and injustice, and those who, because of it, lost their lives and freedom. Grant us determination and an accountable community to interrupt these unjust systems. Help us to use our voices, our agency, and our faith to advocate for justice.
Amen."
We invite you to reflect on their story through the Living Lutheran article below.

New Americans Program families do their best to plan for emergencies—but sometimes the crisis is bigger than anyone could anticipate, and that is when strong connections make all the difference. In the Pentecost season, many remember how God’s Spirit brings clarity and understanding— helping us hear one another, recognize God’s will, and come together across differences.
By supporting Lutheran Services Carolinas’ New Americans Program, you ensure families remain connected when sudden changes threaten their stability.
Your generosity means:
• Families stay connected to housing and food
• Children stay connected to school and care
• Parents stay connected to opportunity and hope

We’re Unbelievable 💙 | Happy CNA Week 2026
This week, we proudly celebrate Certified Nursing Assistants across Lutheran Services Carolinas—and the nearly one million CNAs nationwide who show up every day with compassion, skill, and heart.
This year’s theme, “We’re Unbelievable,” says it all.
CNAs are the backbone of care in our communities. They walk alongside residents and families in moments big and small—offering comfort, dignity, laughter, and connection. Their work may not always be visible, but its impact is undeniable.
At LSC, we are deeply grateful for the frontline heroes who embody our mission each day: Empowered by Christ, we walk together with all we serve.
To our CNAs: thank you for the unbelievable difference you make in the lives of others. We celebrate you this week—and every day.
