103 Reasons To Celebrate! π
Yesterday, we had the honor of celebrating Sgt. Odell Lewis, a World War II veteran, on his 103rd birthday! For the past few years, we've looked forward to celebrating Odell's special day with a birthday treat, and this year was no exception. Thanks to Frosting Creators of San Antonio, he received a delicious coconut cream pie to help make his birthday a little extra sweet! π
Join us in wishing Odell a very happy birthday! π₯³

β¨ Our June Volunteer of the Month is Jean Schaefer! β¨
Jean has been volunteering with Meals on Wheels San Antonio since 2021, first through our AniMeals program, but after retiring, she wanted to do more, and so she started delivering meals and helping on-site at our Campus of Grace.
She enjoys helping clients remain independent in their own homes and appreciates the care Meals on Wheels provides not only to seniors but also to younger disabled neighbors. Her favorite part of volunteering is greeting the clients she delivers to and getting to know them through the conversations they share, including one client who formerly trained dogs and would visit with Jeanβs dog during AniMeals deliveries. Through those visits, she learned more about dog training while also building a meaningful friendship. π
So whether the visit is quick or a little longer, Jean values the connections she has made with both clients and Meals on Wheels staff, and she looks forward to continuing to volunteer for years to come.
Thank you, Jean, for helping us deliver More Than A Meal and for your dedication to making a difference in the lives of others! π«Ά
