This Father’s Day, we celebrate the growing presence of fathers in Texas households. Between 2014 and 2024, the number of households increased from 3.0M to 3.4M, while the share with father figures, including married-couple and single male-headed households, rose from 75% to 77%.

Growth patterns vary across Texas. El Paso and Rio Grande Valley areas show steady, localized increases, while the Houston region continues to see stronger growth in surrounding suburbs rather than the urban core.

Suburbs in the Dallas–Fort Worth region and along the San Antonio–Austin corridor are seeing the fastest increases, while growth in West Texas remains more limited and concentrated in a few cities. These highlight ongoing expansion beyond urban cores.
