The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors has approved a balanced budget for Fiscal Year 2026-27 fiscal year that protects critical safety-net services at a time of unprecedented federal funding shortfalls.
The Adopted Budget responds to one of the most challenging fiscal environments in the County’s history. Deep federal cuts to healthcare and food assistance programs, combined with slower revenue growth and rising operational costs, created a nearly $800 million funding deficit.
The County continues to implement a three-part strategy to address the unprecedented federal funding cuts, with a focus on responsible use of 2025 Measure A sales tax funds, continued operational efficiencies to reduce costs, and strengthened partnership with the State of California.
Everyone in the county should feel valued, respected, and safe. Last week, County officials, community members and others gathered for a Pride Month Flag raising to let LGBTQ+ people know they are supported and loved, despite rising sentiments of bigotry throughout the country. It was a beautiful event, and we will continue to celebrate and support this community.
