Women Veterans Recognition Day is celebrated on June 12th to honor the service and sacrifice of women who have worn the uniform, while also recognizing a key moment that changed the course of military service for women in the United States.
This recognition became official on June 12, 1948, with the signing of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act. This landmark legislation granted women the legal right to serve as permanent, regular members of the U.S. Armed Forces. No longer confined to temporary or auxiliary roles, women could now build full military careers and help shape the future of our armed services.

As we celebrate National Donut Day, we remember the "Donut Dollies" - the popular nickname given to American Red Cross volunteers who served near the front lines during the Vietnam, Korean, and World Wars. Armed with smiles and games, they traveled by jeep and helicopter to bring a brief taste of home, emotional support, and a morale boost to troops.

SALUTE! Meet British engineer Florence Seaton!
Determined to combine her passion for aviation, sparked through flying with the University Air Squadron, and her love of paragliding with her growing interest in engineering, Florence pursued a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at Imperial College London. There, she carved out her own interdisciplinary space by proposing a project to develop a device enabling women to urinate safely in fast jet aircraft.
