New fishing pier incoming at Vasona Lake🎣 Our crew is already making it happen! Stay tuned to see the upgrade of your new fishing experience right in your county park. Before maintenance technicians went in to clear reeds, our natural resources management team monitored nesting birds to ensure they fledged before the work began to minimize wildlife impact. After the go-ahead, the team got to work.

June 23rd is National Hydration Day! When you hit the trails this summer, make sure to bring a full water bottle, locate the closest water fountain, and be aware of symptoms of extreme dehydration like dizziness, fatigue, confusion, or extreme thirst.

You can also sign your dog up for Bark Ranger and receive a portable bowl to keep your furry friends hydrated as you explore together.

Happy first day of summer and Father’s Day! To celebrate, we’re showcasing the California quail, a bird found in Santa Clara County Parks that is both stylish and family oriented. Early summer is when quails finish their nest and females will lay 12 or more eggs. When hatched, multiple adult quails help raise the young in groups known as coveys. The adult males will often stand guard away from the group to help protect the young and alert them of predators (way to go dad!).

Santa Clara County Parks is a great place to spend a summer day, go on a Father’s Day outing, and look for California quail. With 28 parks, 55,000 acres, and over 350 miles of trail for hiking, horseback riding, and biking, there is something for everyone this summer.
