A child’s ability to learn and thrive is deeply connected to their emotional well being. 🌱

Healthier Kids Foundation’s My HealthFirst program is designed to support the whole child by providing wellness checks in schools that help identify students who may be experiencing social or emotional challenges. Through a brief, compassionate 15 minute conversation with trained staff, students are given a safe space to share how they have been feeling and what support they may need.

When concerns are identified, My HealthFirst ensures that families are not left navigating the system alone. Instead, they are connected to care coordination and community resources such as counseling, mental health services, and parenting support. The program works closely with families to help determine the best next steps for each child.

By identifying needs early and connecting families to support, My HealthFirst helps reduce barriers to learning and ensures students have the emotional foundation they need to succeed in school and in life.

Through Healthier Kids Foundation’s DentalFirst program, children ages 6 months to 18 years old receive dental screenings that help identify undetected dental issues. Families are then connected to follow-up care, resources, and support in their preferred language so no child falls through the cracks.

For many families, DentalFirst is more than a screening. It’s peace of mind, education, and access to care they may not have been able to navigate alone. From helping schedule appointments to finding nearby providers and supporting uninsured families with coverage resources, the program helps remove barriers that impact a child’s health, confidence, and success in school.

So grateful to have been part of the 4th Annual Happy Teeth Event this week alongside so many organizations committed to the health and well being of local families. 🦷💜

Our Healthier Kids Foundation team had the opportunity to connect with families, support oral health education, and help make dental screenings and resources more accessible to children and youth across our community.
