🩺 Today, KACS hosted a Health Seminar & Screening focused on diabetes prevention and management.

Participants learned about the causes and risk factors of diabetes, as well as practical ways to prevent and manage the condition through healthy eating and lifestyle habits. 🌱🍎

We would like to thank Dr. Jae Kook Wi, former UCLA School of Medicine research professor and current director of Eudaimonia Medical Volunteer Association, for sharing his expertise and valuable insights. 👨‍⚕️

We also extend our gratitude to the Korean American Nurses Association of Northern California for providing free blood pressure and blood glucose screenings. ❤️

🩺 KACS 건강 세미나 및 건강 스크리닝: 당뇨병 예방과 관리 💙

오늘 케이센터(KACS)에서는 당뇨병 예방과 관리를 주제로 건강 세미나 및 건강 스크리닝 행사를 진행했습니다.

👨‍⚕️ 참석자들은 당뇨병의 원인과 위험 요인에 대해 배우고, 건강한 식습관과 생활 습관을 통해 당뇨병을 예방하고 관리하는 실질적인 방법들을 알아보는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌습니다.

🎤 귀한 지식과 경험을 나누어 주신 전 UCLA 의과대학 연구교수이자 유데모니아 의료봉사회 원장이신 위재국 박사님께 진심으로 감사드립니다.

🩸 또한 혈압 및 혈당 측정 건강 스크리닝을 제공해 주신 북가주한인간호사협회에도 깊이 감사드립니다.

KACS Community Listening Session Brings Community Voices Together

On June 8, KACS hosted a Community Listening Session at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel San Jose, bringing together approximately 50 community members for meaningful conversations about the future of our community. The event included an English-language session in the morning and a Korean-language session in the afternoon.

Participants reflected on KACS‘s 47-year impact and shared insights on the evolving needs of the Korean American community in Silicon Valley. Key themes included mental health and wellness, connection and belonging, language-accessible services, cultural preservation, and the need for community gathering spaces.

More than a listening session, this was an opportunity for community members to help shape the future of KACS. We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated and shared their voices. Your perspectives will help guide KACS as we continue to strengthen and serve our community.

This Community Listening Session was made possible through the support of Santa Clara County District 5 Supervisor Margaret Abe-Koga. We sincerely thank Supervisor Abe-Koga for helping create this opportunity for community members to come together and imagine the future together.

KACS 커뮤니티 리스닝 세션, 지역사회의 목소리와 함께 미래를 그리다

6월 8일, 케이센터(KACS)는 산호세 더블트리 힐튼 호텔에서 커뮤니티 리스닝 세션을 개최했습니다. 이날 행사에는 약 50여 명의 지역사회 구성원들이 참석해 케이센터의 지난 여정을 돌아보고, 지역사회의 현재와 미래에 대해 함께 이야기하는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌습니다. 오전에는 영어 세션, 오후에는 한국어 세션으로 진행되어 다양한 세대와 배경을 가진 참가자들의 목소리를 들을 수 있었습니다.

참가자들은 지난 47년간 케이센터가 지역사회에 미친 영향을 돌아보고, 실리콘밸리 한인 커뮤니티의 변화하는 필요와 과제에 대해 의견을 나누었습니다. 특히 정신건강과 웰빙, 연결과 소속감, 언어 접근성, 문화유산 보존, 그리고 커뮤니티 공간의 필요성이 주요 주제로 논의되었습니다.

이번 리스닝 세션은 다양한 지역사회 리더들, 정치인, 비영리기관대표를 포함한 지역사회 구성원들이 케이센터의 미래를 함께 만들어가는 의미 있는 자리였습니다. 참여해 주시고 소중한 의견을 나눠주신 모든 분들께 진심으로 감사드립니다. 여러분의 목소리는 케이센터의 미래를 만들어가는 소중한 나침반입니다.

🗳️ On May 13, KACS hosted a Korean-language Voting & Election Information Seminar at Bascom Community Center in San Jose in partnership with the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters.

During the seminar, participants received helpful information about:

✔️ Vote-by-mail & early voting
✔️ Language assistance services
✔️ Same Day Registration

Jennifer Kim, Korean Language Lead from the Registrar of Voters Office, emphasized that active civic participation is essential to ensuring Korean American voices are represented in local policies and community decisions.

Attendees showed strong interest in Korean-language voting services and actively participated in discussions about voting access, language assistance, and the importance of civic engagement within the Korean American community.

이날 참석자들은 한국어 투표 서비스와 자료에 높은 관심을 보이며, 투표 접근성, 언어 지원 서비스, 시민 참여의 중요성 등에 대해 적극적으로 질문하고 의견을 나누는 시간을 가졌습니다.

💐 A Special Mother’s Day Outreach for Our Seniors🌸

💚 KACS regularly conducts outreach twice a month over two days, personally visiting 105 seniors living alone in senior apartments to deliver meals and check on their well-being.

For this Mother’s Day outreach 🌸, flowers handmade by students were delivered along with the meals. Many seniors shared their appreciation and joy at receiving an unexpected gift.

Beyond meal delivery, KACS continues to support the well-being of seniors and strengthen connections within the community through ongoing outreach efforts 💚

💚KACS는 정기적으로 한 달에 두 번, 이틀에 걸쳐 시니어 아파트에 거주하시는 105명의 독거 시니어분들을 직접 찾아가 식사를 전달하고 안부를 확인하는 아웃리치를 진행하고 있습니다.

이번 어버이날 아웃리치에는 ksnc_jrleaders 학생들이 직접 만든 🌸꽃을 🍱음식과 함께 전달해드렸습니다. 예상하지 못한 작은 선물에 많은 시니어분들이 반가움과 감사의 마음을 전해주셨습니다. 💚

KACS는 단순한 식사 전달을 넘어, 시니어분들의 안부와 웰빙을 지속적으로 살피며 지역사회와의 연결을 이어가고 있습니다.

Empowering Seniors Through Knowledge & Community

On April 23, KACS successfully hosted a Senior Empowerment Seminar, welcoming over 80 Korean immigrant seniors for a meaningful day of education, connection, and support. 💙

Experts shared practical information on Medicare, Social Security, Medi-Cal & CalFresh updates, retirement planning, funeral preparation, wills, and living trusts to help seniors better navigate important systems and prepare for a more secure future.

The seminar also gave participants an opportunity to ask questions, receive guidance, and connect with valuable community resources. Thank you to everyone who joined us and to our community partners for making this event possible! 🙌✨

The festival served as a bridge, sharing the rich traditions of Korean culture with the broader community. Beyond the festivities, our Resource Fair provided a vital link to essential community services and information.

While attendees enjoyed traditional Korean cuisine together, our heart remained with those who couldn’t be there. KACS staff personally delivered meals to seniors with mobility challenges, ensuring that the spirit of the Full Moon reached every home.

This milestone was only possible through the unwavering support of our community leaders, partners, volunteers, and the dedicated KACS staff. To us, you are the true heroes of this community.

🇰🇷🇺🇸🌕 3월 6일, 베스컴 커뮤니티 센터 체육관은 환한 보름달만큼이나 따뜻한 정으로 가득 찼습니다. 약 300여 명의 이웃이 모인 가운데, 케이센터 정월대보름 축제가 성황리에 마무리되었습니다.

이번 축제는 지역사회 주요 인사들의 축사와 우리 시니어분들의 열정 가득한 공연이 어우러져 더욱 뜻깊은 시간이었습니다. 무엇보다 한국의 아름다운 전통과 문화를 지역사회와 함께 나눌 수 있어 무척 소중한 기회였습니다. 함께 운영된 리소스 페어(Resource Fair)를 통해서는 실생활에 꼭 필요한 서비스 정보들을 연결해 드리며 지역사회의 든든한 버팀목이 되고자 노력했습니다.

정성껏 준비한 한국 전통 음식을 함께 나누며, 미국 땅에서도 우리 명절의 의미를 되새기는 기쁨을 만끽했습니다. 특히 거동이 불편해 현장에 오지 못하신 어르신들께는 봉사자들이 직접 댁으로 식사를 배달해 드리며, 소외되는 이 없이 모두가 보름달의 풍요로움을 느낄 수 있도록 온기를 전했습니다.
이 모든 감동의 순간은 지역 리더분들, 협력 기관, 출연진, 그리고 보이지 않는 곳에서 헌신해주신 자원봉사자와 케이센터 스태프 여러분의 아낌없는 지원 덕분에 가능했습니다. 여러분 모두가 진정한 우리들의 영웅입니다.
