We’re keeping an eye out on Thursday and Friday for potential flooding rain in our area.

Widespread showers and thunderstorms will continue across much of Georgia today, tomorrow, and Thursday. Flooding and/or widespread severe weather is not anticipated through Wednesday. Heavy rainfall could produce isolated flash flooding where the axis of heaviest precipitation sets up, which currently looks to be over middle Georgia.

The Weather Prediction Center has much of Georgia in a Slight Risk (level 2 of 4) for excessive rainfall on Thursday, with a small portion of West-Central Georgia in a Moderate Risk (level 3 of 4). The Storm Prediction Center has much of Georgia in a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for severe weather on Thursday, which could also be upgraded if confidence increases for damaging winds and/or isolated tornadoes.

Most of Georgia should receive 2 to 4 inches of rainfall in total today through Friday. Please continue to monitor forecast updates from your local National Weather Service office and reliable media outlets throughout the week.
