Rotary Club of Savannah
Founded on January 12, 1914, the Rotary Club of Savannah is the second oldest club in the state of Georgia.
On behalf of Dana Park, district RYE Chair
Fellow Rotarians,
I am reaching out with an urgent opportunity to make a lasting impact through Rotary Youth Exchange.
District 6920 is seeking a Rotary club and host families for an outstanding high school-aged young man from Taiwan who is excited to spend his exchange year in Georgia.
Many people assume hosting is a huge commitment, but the reality is much simpler:
• Host families DO NOT need to be Rotarians.
• Host families only commit to approximately 90–100 days.
• Most students live with multiple host families during the school year.
• The student arrives with insurance, spending money, and support from Rotary.
• Our Youth Exchange team provides training, resources, and ongoing support throughout the exchange.
We are asking clubs to help in two ways:
Consider serving as the sponsoring host club for this student.
Help identify potential host families within your community.
Host families come in all forms:
• Empty nesters
• Families with children
• Single adults
• Retirees
• Families who simply have room in their hearts and home for a young person seeking a life-changing experience
By hosting a Rotary Youth Exchange student, you are not simply providing a bedroom. You are:
• Building international understanding
• Creating lifelong friendships
• Supporting Rotary’s mission of peacebuilding
• Showing the world the best of our community and our values
For many host families, what begins as a 90-day commitment becomes a lifelong relationship.
If your club can help sponsor this student, identify a host family, or simply wants to learn more, please contact me. Even sharing this opportunity with your club members, friends, neighbors, schools, churches, and community organizations could make all the difference.
One club. One family. One student. A lifetime of impact.
Thank you for helping Rotary create peace and understanding through Youth Exchange.
Yours in Rotary,
Dana Park

At the June 15 meeting, members heard from Nora Lee with the Coastal Heritage Society and Andrea Farmer with the Savannah District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers about the years-long restoration of cannon discovered in the Savannah River during dredging. The cannons will be displayed at the Savannah History Museum in a brand new exhibit opening July 3. Members were greeted at the door by re-enactors from four different Revolutionary War armies and had the chance to see replicas of some of the items linked to Savannah's history with the American Revolution.

The Club had the pleasure of holding today’s meeting at the Discovery Center of Savannah on the Georgia Southern Armstrong Campus.
We enjoyed hearing from our fellow Rotarians at Thomas & Hutton as they reflected on 80 years of leadership, service, and impact across our region and beyond.
We also heard from Dr. Desma Patterson of Brock Elementary School about the incredible impact United Way of the Coastal Empire’s Reading United Buddies program is making in the lives of students.
