Union Mission
Partnering with people to end their homelessness. Union Mission, Inc., began in 1937 as a part of Savannah’s response to the Great Depression of the 1930's.
Today, Union Mission provides shelter for men, women and families, short and long term housing assistance, behavioral counseling, substance abuse programs, life skills training, job training and employment assistance throughout the greater Savannah area. Union Mission offers a wide range of services to help those in need and has played a key role in reducing homelessness in our community.
Today, the doors officially open at our new Resource Center on Fahm Street.
This has been years in the making, and we're so grateful to everyone who helped make it possible: our donors, our volunteers, our partners, and this community that keeps showing up for its neighbors. This space exists because of all of you.
Today is just the beginning. We can't wait to see the lives that will be changed here.

When we dreamed up the Resource Center but SCAD SERVE helped bring it to life. President & CEO Michael Traynor joined WSAV News 3 this week alongside SCAD architecture student DeMaris Owusu to share how this partnership turned an empty building on Fahm Street into a place where neighbors experiencing homelessness can access health care, housing navigation, dignity services, and job support all in one place.
This is what happens when students put their skills to work for the community.

Today we cut the ribbon on the Emmaus House Resource Center at 127 Fahm Street, a place that’s going to mean a lot to a lot of people in Savannah. It takes a village, and ours showed up. Opens June 17!

Today, we cut the ribbon on the Emmaus House Resource Center at 127 Fahm Street, and it was a moment a long time coming.
This new center brings together everything our neighbors experiencing homelessness need under one roof: meals, healthcare, housing navigation, job assistance, and case management. Union Mission acquired the former Family Dollar building two years ago, and last month we welcomed the Emmaus House team into our family. Their staff, their heart, and their mission are now part of ours.
Doors open to the public on June 17. Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 4. Saturday, 8:30 to 2.
None of this happens without the donors who believed in the vision, the community partners who walked alongside us, and the staff who show up every single day. Thank you. Savannah is better because of you.
