Chatham County offices will close Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of Juneteenth. While essential services will continue to operate, regular business hours will resume on Monday, June 22, 2026.

Bulk pickup for Isle of Hope, Whitefield Ave., Dutch and Burnside Island will occur on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

Did you know Chatham County has its own Park Ranger? 🌳

Raised in Fort Myers, Florida, Park Ranger Brent spent his childhood hunting, fishing, swimming, and boating, developing his love for the outdoors at a young age.

Today, you can find Brent at Chatham County parks and nature preserves, leading free programs for all ages. From bird walks and full moon hikes to turtle talks and more, there’s something for everyone!

Brent also works with Girl Scout troops, schools, and other organizations interested in learning outdoor skills or history.

The first-ever Chatham County Pet May Madness was a memorable success!

🏆 Congratulations to Theo, our 2026 May Madness Champion!
Theo captured the title after a hard-fought championship matchup and earned the distinction of being Chatham County's top pet for 2026.

🥈 Congratulations also to Hope, our Runner-Up!
Hope made an incredible run through the bracket and gave Theo a championship battle worthy of the final round.

Over the course of the tournament, county employees submitted 64 pets representing departments across Chatham County. More importantly, the event brought employees together, created new connections across departments, generated plenty of friendly rivalry, and helped shine a spotlight on the wonderful animals waiting for homes through Chatham County Animal Services.

10 adoptable dogs from Animal Services were featured throughout the tournament. We are thrilled to report that Albert, Greezy, Pierce, and Wickham have found new homes, while Riddle, Dodger, Kermit, Brownie, Eva, and Blair are still waiting for their forever families.
