Is Lady Bug a dog...or a mermaid in disguise? π§ββοΈπΎ
If youβre looking for a dog who loves the water, Lady Bug might just be your perfect match. π¦
This 6-year-old sweetheart has been with us for 82 days and is one of our Lonely Hearts (which means her adoption fee is reduced to just $50).
How much does she love water, you ask? The other day, Lady Bug spotted a very muddy puddle, jumped right in, and refused to come out. π
Donβt worry...she eventually rinsed off in the pool, which she loved just as much!
Give her a puddle, a pool, or any place to splash around and sheβs one happy girl.
Lady Bug is the perfect medium-sized companion with a big personality and an even bigger love for the water. Sheβs ready to make a splash in a home of her own.
Come meet Lady Bug today! ππΎ

ππΎ Protect Your Pets Before the Pops! πΎπ
Fireworks season is one of the busiest times of the year for lost pets. Every year, shelters, rescues, and recovery organizations see a surge in missing dogs and cats after fireworks displays. Even pets who have never shown fear before can panic, bolt through doors, jump fences, or slip out of collars.
TRAPS
Trapping, Rescuing, Advocating, and Providing Support will be joining us this Saturday from 3-5 pm for our Protect Your Pets Before the Pops Safety Pop-Up and learn how to keep your pets safe before the July 4th celebrations begin.
We'll be sharing information on:
β
Fireworks safety and escape prevention
β
Proper identification and microchips
β
GPS tracking collars and why preparation matters
β
What to do if your pet goes missing
β
Lost pet prevention resources and recovery tips
β οΈ Please note: We will be scanning microchips, but we will NOT be implanting microchips at this event.
The best time to prepare for a lost pet is before your pet goes missing. A few simple steps now can make all the difference if the unexpected happens.
Whether your pet is fearful of fireworks or you've never had a problem before, we encourage you to stop by, ask questions, and pick up valuable safety information.
Let's work together to keep Savannah's pets safe, secure, and at home where they belong this holiday season.

A huge thank you to Reese and Eli Acors, Nora and Quinn Schwedler, and Farrah and Jon Pfeiffer for supporting the animals at HSGS for the second year in a row! πΎπ§‘
These amazing kids spent time selling cookies, bracelets, earrings, lemonade, and dog treats, raising an incredible $200 for the animals in our care.
Today, they stopped by the shelter so we could thank them in person and introduce them to a few of the animals they're helping, including Evi, Baja, and plenty of adorable kittens.
We are so inspired by their kindness, creativity, and dedication to making a difference for the pets in our Adoption Center. Thank you all for thinking of our animals and for showing that you're never too young to make a big impact! π
Mittens may not be the first cat to catch your eye. π
At 6 years old, sheβs pretty shy and is not the kind of cat that will rush to the front of her kennel to say hello.
Beause of this, she tends to get overlooked. In fact, sheβs been over looked for 59 days now.
But we know Mittens - and we know if you give her time and let her settle in, youβll discover one of the sweetest cats around. π§‘
Once sheβs comfortable, Mittens transforms into a purring, biscuit-making machine. She loves affection, will happily curl up in your arms, and is perfectly content to just relax by your side. In fact, if you put her down somewhere cozy, sheβll likely stay right there, enjoying the company and the calm.
Mittens isnβt looking for the spotlight, sheβs looking for someone willing to give her a chance.
Come meet Mittens this week and see for yourself why the best cats are sometimes the ones who take a little longer to shine. β¨ π₯Ή

Today, a very special 6th grader (and her mom) helped make our Adoption Center a whole lot sweeter! π¦πΎ
Mia, a sixth-grader at St. Andrew's, was recognized as a winner in the Leopold's Ice Cream Creative Writing Contest for a poem she wrote about her rescue dog, Finn. Rather than keeping the spotlight on herself, Mia chose to share her accomplishment with the animals at HSGS.
Thanks to Mia's compassion and Lindsay's efforts, J&J Snack Foods Corp. (the makers of Dogsters Ice Cream) donated 48 doggie ice cream coupons for our dogs and cats to enjoy during a special Paws in Paradise ice cream party.
The pups had an absolute blast spending time outside, enjoying treats, and cooling off with their dog-friendly ice cream. We're so grateful that Mia thought of our animals and turned her achievement into something that brought joy to so many shelter pets.
A special thank you as well to WTOC-TV Morning Break for coming out to cover the event and help share Mia's story of kindness and compassion with our community. Link to the segment in the comments!
Thank you, Mia and Lindsay, for your kindness and for being such wonderful advocates for animals in our community - we are so incredibly thankful for your generosity! π₯°
