In Memoriam: Dr. Michael Copass
It is with heavy hearts that the Brinnon Fire Department mourns the loss of Dr. Michael Copass, a legendary figure in the world of prehospital emergency medical services. Dr. Copass, known for his unyielding commitment to excellence, passed away last night, leaving behind a legacy that has profoundly shaped EMS in our region and beyond.
Dr. Copass was a cornerstone of the Seattle Medic One program, serving as its director of training and later as medical director. His influence extended far beyond Seattle, setting standards and practices that have become benchmarks in the EMS field. As the director of emergency services at Harborview Medical Center for 35 years, he helped transform it into one of the world's top trauma centers. Despite his gruff exterior, his profound impact on countless lives and his unwavering commitment to patient care will be remembered and celebrated.
Today, we honor Dr. Michael Copass's memory and the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind. His vision and tenacity have saved countless lives, and his work will continue to inspire and guide future generations in the EMS community. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
