Juneteenth marks both a historic moment of liberation and an ongoing call to build communities where freedom, opportunity, and a voice in shaping the future are available to everyone.
We are honored to have been able to partner with organizations and community leaders who are doing that work every day: Africatown Community Land Trust, Rainier Beach Action Coalition, Dare2Be, Empowering People in Communities (EPIC), Nehemiah Initiative, Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church, Damascus International Fellowship, Skyway Coalition, and Young Black Homeowners.
Through community organizing, cultural preservation, leadership development, housing advocacy, faith-based service, and neighborhood investment, these organizations are helping create communities where families can thrive, cultures can flourish, and opportunities can be passed from one generation to the next.
This Juneteenth, these and other people and organizations carrying its promise forward.

Nest didn't just appear overnight.
It took strategic partnerships, unwavering commitment, and public officials who recognize that permanently affordable homeownership is a cornerstone of thriving communities.
Having those very leaders and community members join us at the Nest ribbon cutting made the celebration even more meaningful.
Thank you Nicole Vallestero Soper (Director Policy and Innovation for Mayor Katie Wilson), Sen. Emily Alvarado (State of Washington), Jessica Garcia-Ortiz (Homestead homeowner and Board Member), and Hon. Governor Bob Ferguson for being a part of this special day.
We agree with Sen. Emily Alvardo that Washington State deserves and needs more affordable projects like ours. Together, home by home, we are creating a more affordable and equitable community.

Still buzzing from the Nest Condominium Ribbon Cutting celebration!
What an incredible day to celebrate a project that demonstrates how housing affordability and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
Nest is more than a condominium community. It's an example of how we can create homes that reduce environmental impact while expanding access to homeownership in Seattle. Through energy-efficient design, a walkable neighborhood location, and a commitment to building housing within existing urban communities, Nest helps reduce carbon emissions while giving more families the opportunity to put down roots.
This project was made possible through years of collaboration among local and state government, lenders, community organizations, and private-sector partners who share a vision of communities that are both equitable and sustainable.
For too many working people—teachers, healthcare workers, nonprofit employees, public servants, and service-sector workers—homeownership in neighborhoods like Phinney Ridge has felt out of reach. Nest demonstrates that permanently affordable homeownership, environmental stewardship, beautiful design, and neighborhood opportunity can all exist together.
Swipe to see some of our favorite moments from the day and celebrate everyone who helped bring this vision to life.

Today we celebrated the completion of Nest, Homestead Community Land Trust's newest homeownership community in Seattle's Phinney Ridge neighborhood.
Nest includes 30 ownership homes, with 19 permanently affordable homes for income-qualified buyers and 11 market-rate homes, creating opportunities for households across a range of incomes to become homeowners in the same community.
For many working people—teachers, healthcare workers, nonprofit employees, public servants, and service-sector workers—homeownership in neighborhoods like Phinney Ridge has become increasingly out of reach. Nest demonstrates that affordability, sustainability, and neighborhood opportunity can coexist.
The homes are fully electric and built with healthy, durable, environmentally responsible materials. Residents will enjoy walkable access to neighborhood amenities along with a shared rooftop gathering space overlooking the Olympic and Cascade Mountains.
Projects like this are only possible through partnership. Thank you to the City of Seattle Office of Housing, Washington State Housing Trust Fund, National Housing Trust/Amazon Housing Equity Fund, Washington Trust Bank, Side x Side Architects, Edge Community Builders, and the many public officials, funders, advocates, and community members who helped make Nest a reality.
Congratulations to the future homeowners who will soon call Nest home.
