Real Change was founded in 1994 to offer immediate employment options for the poor and homeless and challenge the structures that create poverty. Real Change serves our vendors through three integrated approaches:

Ann Okwuwolu started organizing Juneteenth celebrations in Seattle because she wanted real representation for her daughter, not just symbolism. Juneteenth has always been community-built here in Seattle, long before it was a federal holiday and even as that recognition is being undermined. Juneteenth is more than a day off. As Randy Ford of Central District Forum for Arts and Ideas puts it: "It starts with you addressing the exploitation of Black labor in this country." This Juneteenth, we're reflecting on the real work still ahead.
