HAPPY JUNETEENTH!

Ericka Hart, M.Ed. Let this Juneteenth holiday serve as a reminder that Black people fought and freed ourselves in 1863 and again in 1865 in Galveston, TX. No piece of paper or decree from our enslavers freed us (that just as quickly could enslave us and did). Our ancestors freed themselves through rebellion, revolt, escape, maroonage, armed resistance, spiritual work and warfare, over the course of 400 plus years.

Black people were forced to build the entire economic infrastructure for this country and white people STILL own 98% of all rural land.

White and NBPOC, you get a day off and even if you have to work, anti Blackness is the foundation of racial capitalism. Reparations MUST be paid from the state, and this post serves as a reminder that white and NBPOC must put their money where their mouth is, pay a Black person today!! Pay DOUBLE to a Black q***r and/or trans person!

Black folks, put your PayPal/venmo/cashapps in the comments!

Video is of Kimberly Latrice Jones , go support her work and new book!

Guidelines:

**BLACK TRANS FEMMES TO THE FRONT**

1. Black people: You never need a reason to put your payment info. Don’t feel obligated to share more than just that!

2. You can also give! Black folks giving to each other is something we do anyway, feel free to do that here as well.

3. Please post your name ONCE, posting again under someone else’s name will be deleted.

White and NBPOC:

1. Please share this post everywhere! Comment under the person you gave to sharing what you ate for dinner last night.

2. Don’t tell folks you gave, it’s not about you. That’s not the same as doing number one.

3. Continue to agitate and demand the state give reparations to the descendants of chattel slavery. Write to your elected officials urging them to stand for reparations for Black people.
