These new WA laws take effect Thursday • Washington State Standard 06/17/2026

This past Thursday, WA Dems took action to protect voting rights, passing legislation that restores preclearance requirements and helps guard against voter suppression in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s continued weakening of the Voting Rights Act. While Dems fought to strengthen fair and accessible elections, WA GOP once again voted in lockstep against these protections.

These new WA laws take effect Thursday • Washington State Standard Over 200 new Washington laws take effect Thursday. Among them are tax rollbacks and hikes and guidance for retailers on the penny phase-out.
