Happy Juneteenth to our beloved Black community! 💛

Today we commemorate June 19, 1865 when last group of enslaved people in Galveston, TX finally learned they were free - 2 years after Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth is a celebration of resilience, hope, freedom, and strength. We honor the Black people who pressed forward for justice. A freedom delayed is a freedom denied.

North Helpline was closed today for a day of celebration, reflection, and solidarity. We look forward to seeing our neighbors this Saturday for regular food bank distribution hours.

Upcoming Food Bank Closure:

North Helpline will be closed on Saturday, July 4th, 2026 for a staff holiday.

Food Bank Distribution will open for our normal hours again on Wednesday, July 8th, in Lake City, and Saturday, July 11th, in Bitter Lake.

You're Invited to Our Block Party! 🌭☀😎

This summer we are hosting our 2nd neighborhood Block Party on Friday July 10th from 12pm-4pm. The event will take place right in front of our Lake City Food Bank location. Come enjoy FREE FOOD and LIVE PERFORMANCES while celebrating our Lake City community!

This block party is a great opportunity for the community to come together and we're expecting over 400 attendees throughout the day. We're asking local businesses and organizations to provide music, entertainment, food, and resources. Interested in getting involved? Email [email protected]

Purchasing food from local farmers is core to North Helpline’s ability to buy fresh and healthy food for our neighbors. Buying locally supports our farmers but also helps stretch our funds. Tomatoes that cost $25 a crate in January are now costing us $50 even at wholesale markets.

Fortunately, North Helpline’s partnerships with farmers help us curb these costs to bring more delicious and nutritious food to our neighbors. We are thankful for all our farming partners for being a part of our North Helpline community. 🧡

SUN Bucks is a federal program that works in tandem with Free Summer Meals to support families when school meals are unavailable. Families receive $120 per eligible child to purchase groceries over the summer. Learn more about SUN Bucks and eligibility at hungerfreewa.org

Pack the Park Fun Run | Fighting Food Insecurity One Step at a Time 🏃

The 10th Annual Pack the Park Fun Run is on May 9, 2026 at Animal Acres Park, benefiting food security programs!

For the past decade, this event has brought our community together to move with purpose and make a real impact. Food insecurity is rising. More local families are struggling to put healthy meals on the table. But together, we can change that.

Pack the Park is a fun, family-friendly event where every step you take helps provide food and support to kids and families right here in our community.

North Helpline will be tabling at this event and sharing about our food access and client services - stop by!
