Volunteers are the heart of Elizabeth Gregory Home💚
Without help, we could not support women experiencing homelessness, trauma, or economic insecurity. Last year, over 250 volunteers gifted over 4,000 hours of their time to EGH!
Thank you to all our amazing volunteers. We are so grateful for you!

A special EGH Staff Spotlight!
Zenashe Ewnetu is a Day Shelter Assistant at Elizabeth Gregory Home. Zenashe has been working at EGH since November 2017, when she was hired after an excellent apprenticeship with us through the YWCA work training program. Zenashe came to the United States from her home country of Ethiopia and uses her Amharic language to speak to many of our guests at EGH while rocking her role in the Personal Care Center. She keeps the laundry and shower schedule moving throughout the day, does our in-house laundry, makes sure the bathrooms and showers are kept tidy, does a lot of data entry, and keeps us all laughing! Zenashe has a son and daughter who are both in high school, is active in her church community, makes delicious Ethiopian food, and loves to decorate.
Zenashe is an important part of our team - we are so grateful to work alongside her!💚

“I am incredibly proud that Elizabeth Gregory Home is seen and felt in the community as a safe space for our LGBTQIA+ guests. They share that they feel seen, heard, safe, and loved here, which of course is our goal. We want everyone to feel like they belong here, can be themselves, and matter. I am incredibly saddened and angry by the hatred and demonization of transgender people in our society. They are humans, just like you and me, who are bravely being their true and authentic selves, and for that, they should be celebrated and loved, not just during Pride Month, but all year long!” - Ally Baehr, EGH Executive Director
Elizabeth Gregory Home is a safe and caring space where everyone, including our LGBTQIA+ guests, can feel welcome and seen.❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 🤍🩷🩵🤎🖤
