Community Board 3 of Staten Island

Yesterday, I called for enhanced public transportation service to help Staten Islanders travel to and from Manhattan during the Knicks Championship Parade. I'm pleased to see that the Staten Island Ferry has announced additional service for Thursday.

To accommodate the large crowds expected in Lower Manhattan, the Staten Island Ferry will operate every 15 minutes from South Ferry between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM, making it easier for Staten Islanders to get home after work and participate in this historic celebration.

My office has also urged the MTA to increase Staten Island Railway service to complement the enhanced ferry schedule. We have been informed that a service plan is being finalized, and we will share additional details as soon as they become available.

Thank you to the transportation officials and staff working to keep New Yorkers moving. If you're traveling through Manhattan on Thursday, plan ahead and take advantage of the additional ferry service.

DOB's "No Penalty Inspection Summer" is live and ongoing through July 15.

Homeowners and small business owners, now is your opportunity to get a check from a DOB inspector if you think something might be amiss with your building. No risk of penalty or violation - we'll just tell you what to do to get it back into compliance.

If you're interested, just call 311 and staff will connect you to the appropriate unit at DOB to schedule a field visit with a city inspector.
