The West New Brighton Branch was first established in 1913 as a home station at 1006 Castleton Avenue. In 1918, it moved to 85 State Street as a sub-branch.

The present building, located at 976 Castleton Avenue, opened its doors on April 1, 1933. The building is air-conditioned, fully accessible to persons who use wheelchairs, and has a spacious backyard. The branch has collections of 45,000 books, periodicals, CDs, and Audiobooks for adults, young adults, and children available for borrowing and use in the library. Join our children’s staff on Tuesday, June 30 at 2:30 PM as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday with our American Icons series. Come learn all about the Statue of Liberty then complete an experiment showing how it got its famous green sheen!
This program is appropriate for children ages 6-12 years old. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Parent participation is encouraged. Due to time constraints, late arrivals may not be fully accommodated.
