To increase safety and improve traffic operations, two speed limit changes will be made soon. On 12th Ave., the speed limit between Jefferson and Duck will increase from 30 to 35 mph, for a more consistent transition between adjacent speed zones. On 19th Ave., the speed limit between Country Club and Sangre will decrease from 40 to 35 mph due to pedestrian crossings, nearby school zones, and lack of roadway shoulders. Crosswalk improvements are also planned in the area. Both changes are recommendations from traffic engineering evaluations. For more information on current and future street repairs and projects, go to: https://stillwaterok.gov/618/Pavement-Management-Plan

The American Legion Award honored two of our outstanding employees as Officers of the Year this evening. Rachel Wasserman, Animal Welfare Supervisor, and Sgt. Charles Rivas were both recognized for their exceptional service, leadership, and dedication to our community.

The American Legion presents these awards to individuals who go above and beyond in their profession, demonstrating integrity, commitment to public service, and a genuine impact on the lives of others. This recognition reflects not only their hard work, but also the respect they’ve earned from their peers and the community they serve.

Congratulations to Rachel and Sgt. Rivas on this well-deserved honor. We are proud to have you representing our department and making a difference every day.

Huge shoutout to DEARINGERS for the incredible wrap on this vehicle. We had one generous private donor get us started, and DEARINGERS stepped up in a big way covering the remaining costs and donating the labor to make it happen.

We truly appreciate the support. Special Olympics Oklahoma and these athletes will be proudly represented in Stillwater thanks to you!

Officers and Deputies from Stillwater Police Department, OSU Police Department and Campus Safety, and the Payne County Sheriff's Office came together this Memorial Day to complete the Murph.

Weighted vests. Full effort.

Our oldest participant was 69. Our youngest were Officer Cassidy’s kids.

1-mile run. 100 pull-ups. 200 push-ups. 300 air squats. 1-mile run.

The Murph honors Navy SEAL Lieutenant Michael Murphy, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on June 28, 2005.

But Memorial Day is about more than a workout.

It is a day to remember the servicemen and women who gave their lives in defense of our nation and the freedoms we enjoy. Their sacrifice, and the sacrifice of their families, will never be forgotten.

Be safe, Stillwater!

A long time ago, in a fire station not so far away... brave men and women suited up, answered the call, and saved the day. Every day.
Happy May the Fourth and National Firefighters Day to the Stillwater Fire Department. You may not have a lightsaber, but a 110-foot ladder truck is honestly cooler. We love you, we appreciate you, and we hope today is quiet, the food and workouts are good, and the only alarms are false ones.
