What a great day to shop and see friends at the Westcott Art Trail! Thanks to Joan Royle and the folks at Westcott Community Center for everything they do for our community. As always I had to stop by Recess Coffee and found some art to take home!

Refugees make America stronger, better, and whole. Let’s welcome them with open arms, like we have always done, to be woven into the fabric of our country.

ICE continues to intimidate and threaten our communities. I’m proud to stand with CSEA Local 615 and The Greater Syracuse Labor Council to welcome home Mohamed and Dame, Syracuse neighbors who should have never been detained.

We had a big weekend of festivals and events in Syracuse and I want to take a moment to appreciate the people who make it all possible: incredible teams from Syracuse Parks & Recreation special events and grounds crew, Syracuse Fire Department, and the Syracuse Police Department. Appreciate all you do for our City.

This is good news. I commend Mayor Owens for taking this important step. Continued appeals are necessary to ensure the wealthiest land owner in Syracuse cannot claim a full tax exemption on a mall simply because it’s owned by a tax-exempt entity.
Mayor Owens will appeal ruling exempting Syracuse University from taxes on student center
A legal battle over businesses inside the building has lasted four years.

Happy Flag Day! First adopted in 1777, the American Flag – like our country – has changed over time, but remained an enduring symbol of the freedom and democracy we hold so dear. Let’s celebrate what that means to each of us today and every day.
