At 10:32 hours this morning, Taunton (along with Onondaga Hill and Howlett Hill) were activated for an Electrical Fire in the 4100 block of Old Winding Way.
Taunton Engine 6 (A/C Martin) responded, and upon reports of smoke from the residence by Howlett Hill Car 1, Engine 6 requested the alarm be upgraded.
Engine 6 secured a water supply and deployed a crosslay to the rear of the structure where active fire on the side of the structure was encountered. The fire was quickly extinguished while Onondaga Hill’s crew “opened up” the interior walls to check for any fire extension.
Taunton Ladder 5 (FF Georgiadis), Rescue 2 (FF Bakowski), and Car 402 (Investigator Sauer) also operated on scene fulfilling multiple assignments.
The alarm was held to a “98” and there were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries. All units cleared by 11:50 hours.

Members split into two companies and trained on basic and advanced techniques of vehicle sidewall removals, as well as other extrication techniques and considerations.
Though the Taunton Fire Department has been very fortunate to have such great turnouts for drills and trainings, we are ALWAYS looking for interested applicants to join our department and serve our community.
If you are interested in working alongside our members, fill out an application! https://tauntonfiredept.org/application-member/
Thank you to JR Photography for the photographs!

Yesterday evening just after 17:00 hours, Taunton Ladder 5 was activated for a possible Residential Fire in the Onondaga Hill Fire District. The initial 911 caller reported that the back of the house was on fire.
Taunton Ladder 5 (FF Ovitt), staffed in quarters, responded on dispatch, along with Car 1 (Chief Phelan), and Car 3 (A/C Martin).
South Onondaga Car 1 arrived on scene with smoke and fire from the rear of the residence, declaring a “Signal 99” (working fire) and assuming Command.
Taunton Car 3 arrived moments after, and assumed the Operations role. Taunton Ladder 5 arrived 2nd due, splitting crews to accomplish simultaneous tasks.
Taunton “51” stretched a handline to the 2nd floor to suppress fire that was in the knee walls and attic of the residence, while Taunton “52” threw ground ladders for egress as well as prepared for vertical ventilation. Taunton Car 1 and Fairmount Car 1 vented the roof.
Taunton units operated on scene for just under 2 hours before returning to service.
While Ladder 5 and the Chiefs were operating at the fire, Taunton Engine 4 remained staffed at Station 1 for any additional alarms.
