On behalf of the members of the Hinsdale Fire Department, we extend our heartfelt appreciation and best wishes to the fathers of our department, fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures in our community.

Over the past couple of months, our Chief’s Office was approached about whether we had any AMKUS extrication equipment that could assist a fire department in Cayuga County. After reviewing what we had available, our Chief’s Office spoke with our Fire District Commissioners, who gave us their full support and blessing to help a fellow volunteer fire department.

Throughout the week, our Assistant Chief coordinated efforts with our friend, Steve Dembowski of Colden Enterprise,Tim Carley of the Victory Fire Department, Mervin Senseing of Victory Fire Department, Chief Stephen Jones and Assistant Chief Christopher Culkin to make the donation possible.

Members of our department then traveled to Cayuga County to visit the Victory Fire Department and donate AMKUS equipment that had been taken out of service following upgrades to the equipment carried on Rescue 5. This equipment will now be put to good use by their department and other agencies throughout the county.

Opportunities like this highlight the strength of the fire service and the importance of departments helping one another. By sharing equipment that still has value and service life remaining, we can help fellow departments enhance their capabilities and better serve their communities.

We are proud to support the Victory Fire Department and wish them many years of safe and successful use of this equipment.

This morning, our department took part in a joint training exercise involving multiple Town of Salina departments. The exercise was conducted at Pitcher Hill Apartments and hosted by the Mattydale Fire Department. The training provided an opportunity for participating agencies to strengthen coordination, communication, and operational readiness.

This morning, the Hinsdale Fire Department responded on automatic mutual aid with the Mattydale Fire Department for a motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle and a utility pole in front of the Aldi store on Brewerton Road.

During dispatch, Onondaga County Fire Control advised responding units that a utility pole had been snapped and that a vehicle was overturned on its roof.

Mattydale Car 2 was the first chief officer on scene and confirmed the dispatch information. The occupants had self-extricated from the vehicle prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.

Hinsdale Rescue 5 arrived as the first-due rescue with a crew of six firefighters. The crew split into assignments, assisting with patient care while also conducting a scene size-up and checking for any hazards associated with the crash and damaged utility pole.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out and supported the Hinsdale Fire Department's 100th Anniversary Community Day and Firemen’s Pushball Event held yesterday.

Your attendance, enthusiasm, and support helped make this milestone celebration a tremendous success. It was wonderful to see our community come together to honor 100 years of service, dedication, and tradition.

We would especially like to thank our brothers and sisters from the Lyncourt Volunteer Fire Department, Elbridge Fire Department and Brewerton Fire Department for coming out and supporting our department during the Firemen’s Pushball event. Your participation and camaraderie helped make the competition a memorable part of the day.

We would also like to send a huge shout-out to the South Bay Fire Department for providing emergency coverage while our dedicated men and women worked to make this wonderful community event possible. Your support and commitment are greatly appreciated.
