The Suncoast Trailhead is closed until summer 2027 to construct a pedestrian bridge over SR 54. The new bridge will allow bicyclists/pedestrians on the trail to safely cross SR 54 without mixing with traffic.

Roundabout at US 98 and Big Cypress Boulevard Open in Partial Configuration

Lakeland, FL – This morning the new roundabout opened at US 98 and Big Cypress Boulevard, and US 98 traffic was split to a median divided alignment from W Socrum Loop Road to just north of Rock Ridge Road. Traffic is still in a single lane alignment in each direction and through the roundabout until later phases of construction, when a second lane will open in each direction.

Drivers are cautioned that vehicles in the roundabout have the right-of-way and vehicles entering the roundabout should merge when there is a safe gap in traffic. Vehicles flow around the center of the roundabout and should not stop within the roundabout.

Follow the posted speed limits – 25 MPH through the roundabout – and 45 MPH elsewhere in the construction zone.
