Over the past two weeks, these cadets challenged themselves, learned new skills, and gained firsthand experience in the many facets of the fire service. We're proud of everything they accomplished and excited to see what the future holds for each of them.

🚒 Life-Saving Rescue in Wimauma

Firefighters rescued a trapped man from a burning home in Wimauma Sunday night.

At approximately 7:56 PM, responded to a residential structure fire with reports of a possible occupant trapped inside. The first arriving crew encountered heavy fire conditions and immediately initiated a search of the home.

Within five minutes of arrival, the located and rescued an adult male from the burning residence.

The victim was transported to a local trauma center in serious but stable condition. brought the fire under control in less than 20 minutes and confirmed no other occupants were inside.

This incident highlights the courage, training, and quick actions of our firefighters, who put themselves in harm's way to protect the community every day.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

☀️🏊 Summer Water Safety Starts With You 🏊☀️

As temperatures rise and families spend more time around pools, lakes, beaches, and backyard water features, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue encourages everyone to make water safety a priority.

A few simple steps can help prevent a tragedy:

✅ Always provide active adult supervision around water, and avoid distractions like phones and conversations.

✅ Designate a "Water Watcher" whose sole responsibility is watching swimmers.

✅ Install and maintain barriers, fences, and self-latching gates around pools.

✅ Ensure children wear properly fitted U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets when appropriate.

✅ Enroll children in age-appropriate swim lessons.

✅ Learn CPR. You could save a life while help is on the way.

Remember: Drowning is often silent and can happen in seconds.

Let's work together to make this a safe and enjoyable summer for everyone.

🚒🔥 Day 8 of the Alan D. Anderson - HCFR Cadet Youth Summer Fire Academy!

On their final day before graduation, cadets got to experience some of the most exciting aspects of the fire service. They climbed one of our ladder trucks for a unique view from above, rappelled from our training tower, and learned the fundamentals of vehicle extrication by cutting apart a car with rescue tools.

Today challenged our cadets to step outside their comfort zones and put their trust in their training, equipment, and teammates.

Tomorrow, we celebrate everything they've accomplished during the academy. Congratulations to our cadets on an incredible two weeks of learning, growth, and hard work! 💪🚒🔥

🚒🔥 Day 7 of the Alan D. Anderson - HCFR Cadet Youth Summer Fire Academy!

Today, cadets put everything they've learned into action during full-scale structure fire scenarios. Working as engine and truck companies, they simulated a coordinated response to a simulated structure fire.

Truck company cadets forced entry and conducted primary searches while engine company cadets stretched and advanced hoselines into the structure to locate and suppress the simulated fire. The evolution challenged them to communicate, work together, and apply the skills they've developed throughout the academy.
