Galveston County Health District was proud to participate in the 2026 Texas City Hurricane Town Hall alongside our divisions, Coastal Health & Wellness (CHW) and the Animal Resource Center (ARC).

Our teams enjoyed connecting with residents, sharing hurricane preparedness information, and providing resources to help families, individuals, and pet owners prepare before a storm strikes.

Whether it's protecting your health, caring for your pets, or ensuring access to healthcare before, during, and after emergencies, we're here to support our community every step of the way.

A special thank you to the Texas City Office of Emergency Management for hosting this important event and bringing our community together to prepare for hurricane season.

🚑 Two New Ambulances for GAAA! 🚑

The Galveston Area Ambulance Authority (GAAA) is proud to welcome two new 2025 Ford F-550 Southwest Ambulance Medic Built ambulances to our fleet!

These state-of-the-art units feature advanced technology, enhanced safety features, and a modern patient care compartment to better support our crews and the patients they serve.

These ambulances will help ensure reliable, high-quality emergency medical care for our community when every second counts.

June 23 is Public Service Day

Today, we recognize the dedicated public servants who work every day to serve our communities. From public health professionals and first responders to educators, public works employees, and government staff, these individuals help keep our communities safe, healthy, and thriving.

This year's theme, "Recognize. Reconnect. Reignite.", is an opportunity to highlight the great work being done across public service, strengthen connections with colleagues and the communities we serve, and renew our passion and commitment to making a difference.

Public Service Day reminds us of the important work happening behind the scenes at the local, state, and national levels to improve the lives of others.

🎒 BACK TO SCHOOL COMMUNITY RESOURCE EVENT 🎒

Join us for our 2026 Back-to-School Community Resource Event!

Families can access FREE services and support, including:
• Pre-filled backpacks (while supplies last)
• Back-to-school vaccines
• Free sports physicals on site
• Community resources and services

📌 One backpack per child
📌 Child must be present

This is a great opportunity to get ready for the school year and connect with local resources that support children and families.

We’re expecting several more rounds of rain over the next couple of days across Galveston County, Texas and our region. Our Emergency Management Office is closely monitoring conditions and staying in contact with weather officials and local partners.

The primary concern will be street flooding during periods of heavy rainfall. If you encounter a flooded roadway, don’t take the risk. Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
