Happy Father’s Day to all! I am proud to recognize Police Officer Ruiz for his exceptional service to our community. I have awarded him a Commander's Day off for Father’s Day! Officer Ruiz was chosen because his outstanding work ethic on patrol is perfectly mirrored by his dedication at home as a father. This day off is a small token of respect for the duty he carries every day, and it ensures he will be right where he belongs this weekend—spending quality time with his family.

While on patrol, our officers heard gunshots ring out nearby. Without hesitation, they ran directly toward the sound. Upon arrival, they observed a suspected gunman, prompting an immediate foot pursuit. During the chase, the suspect tripped and dropped his firearm. Officers quickly apprehended him and safely recovered the weapon. Thank you to our dedicated officers for their bravery and for keeping our community safe.

Marketplace Safety Alert! 🚨

Criminals are using platforms like Facebook Marketplace to target sellers and buyers for robberies. Do not meet at private residences. Always meet in a public, well-lit place—ideally, a designated Safe Exchange Zone at any police station.

Safety Tips:
💡 Meet in public: Choose crowded, well-lit, or surveillance-monitored areas.
👮 Police Stations: Use Safe Exchange Zones (lobbies or parking lots).
👥 Bring a friend: Never go alone to meet a stranger.
🚩 Trust your gut: If a buyer/seller refuses to meet in a safe, public place, walk away.

Outstanding work by your officers and NYPD drone unit! Following a shots-fired call at Washington Avenue and East 182 Street our drone operators successfully tracked the suspects as they fled into Bathgate Park. Officers swiftly moved in, apprehended three juveniles, and recovered two fi****ms.

Your Auxiliary Police Officers were out at the Bx36 bus stop (Webster Ave & E Tremont Ave) speaking with commuters. They shared important safety tips to help prevent thefts and keep our community safe. Whether you are waiting at the stop or riding the bus, please remain alert and mindful of your surroundings.

🔹 Keep gold chains and necklaces tucked inside your shirt.

🔹 Avoid keeping wallets or cell phones in your back pockets where they are easily accessible to pickpockets.

🔹 Always be aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious activity to the police.

Let's work together to make our neighborhood commutes safer. Stay vigilant!

We recently transformed the precincts conference room into a one-stop shop to help local students get prom and graduation ready. It was an honor to help these amazing young adults get ready to celebrate their hard work and milestones in style. Congratulations to the Class of 2026!
