Iron Gate Tulsa

Juneteenth is an often overlooked event in our nation’s history. On June 19, 1865, Union troops freed enslaved African Americans in Galveston Bay and across Texas some two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.

On June 19, 2021, after years of advocacy, Juneteenth became a federal holiday in the United States.

Iron Gate served more than 700 plates of food to our neighbors on this holiday morning and will send groceries home to more than 100 families through our self select pantry. We are proud to serve our guests today and everyday

Our regular volunteers are the heart of Iron Gate. Their dedication and consistency help ensure that hundreds of our neighbors receive a hot meal every day. In fact, we serve between 600 and 1,000 plates of food daily.

A big thank you to the team from Ralph Lauren. Together, we served 111 pantry guests and helped ensure our neighbors and families had access to the food they need. Thank you for giving your time and making a difference in our community.

We hosted our second Family Night Volunteering event on May 29 to great success! Volunteers of all ages helped make outreach bags and kids packs, stocked our pantry and designed placemats for our guests at a future community meal.

The partners with more than 600 food pantries across 24 counties in Eastern Oklahoma, including Iron Gate! Today we are meeting with our colleagues from many of those partners to build food security for our neighbors. Thanks to the amazing team at for bringing us together today and leading the charge.

Iron Gate welcomed dozens of families for our Family Volunteer night tonight. Our youngest volunteers packed kids packs and outreach bags and designed placemats to be used in our community meal. We would love to have you join us at our next one in July!
