New agreement with CREOKS ensures access to inpatient care for youth in our custody when local beds are unavailable
Tulsa County remains committed to ensuring that young people experiencing mental or behavioral health challenges, especially youth in our care, at the Tulsa County Juvenile Detention Home, receive timely and compassionate support.
The Tulsa County Board of County Commissioners has approved an agreement between the Tulsa County Juvenile Detention Home (TCJDH) and CREOKS Mental Health Services, Inc. The partnership provides access to crisis stabilization beds for youth in our custody who require short term behavioral health support. Under the one year agreement, CREOKS will reserve one inpatient crisis bed at an annual rate of $171,000, ensuring 24 hour access to a pediatric psychiatrist and a dedicated direct telephone line. Additional crisis beds may be utilized as capacity allows.
In recent years, the County has faced limited options for youth needing intensive inpatient care. When local pediatric beds were unavailable, some teens had to be transported to out of state facilities, including locations in Utah and Arkansas.
This initiative strengthens Tulsa County’s ability to meet the growing mental health needs of youth in our custody and supports a more stable and fiscally responsible juvenile care system.

Today, Commissioner Lonnie Sims, Chief Deputy Mark Vancuren, Emergency Management Director Bill Smiley and Assistant Emergency Management Director Greg Morgan joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Tulsa District and regional partners for a Keystone Dam Tabletop Exercise.
This training brought together emergency managers, public safety leaders and municipal partners to walk through a simulated dam safety incident, test emergency procedures and strengthen coordination between agencies.
Exercises like these ensure Tulsa County and our regional partners are prepared to respond quickly and effectively during high-impact emergencies.
