Twenty-seven years ago today, the United States Supreme Court affirmed in the landmark Olmstead decision that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities belong in their communities—not isolated in unsafe institutions. Olmstead was not the end of the fight for people’s rights, but was one step in a social movement to protect the rights of people with disabilities. A movement that Mosaic has been a part of for over 113 years.
