On June 17, 2026, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Washington, D.C. welcomed a group of Turkmen students returning home after successfully completing the 2025–2026 FLEX (Future Leaders Exchange) program year at U.S. high schools.
Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the United States Esen Aydogdyyev congratulated the students on successfully completing the program, wished them continued academic success, and emphasized the important role of educational exchanges in strengthening mutual understanding, friendship, and people-to-people ties between Turkmenistan and the United States.
During the meeting, Counselor of the Embassy Meret Orazov delivered a presentation dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence and the designation of 2026 as the Year of “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses.”
The presentation also highlighted the current state of Turkmenistan–U.S. relations, recent high-level contacts, cooperation within the C5+1 format, and the Embassy’s activities aimed at promoting political, economic, educational, and cultural ties between the two countries.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views with the FLEX participants.

On June 8, 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with U.S. Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy Sarah Rogers, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit.
The sides discussed the active development of Turkmen-American cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Special attention was paid to partnership in education, science, culture, digitalization, media, public diplomacy, and professional exchanges.
The parties also highlighted cooperation within more than 15 U.S. educational programs, inter-university partnerships, and the successful implementation of the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation program in Turkmenistan.
The sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and interaction within the C5+1 format.

On June 8, 2026, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Serdar Muhammetdurdiyev met with the delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which arrived in Ashgabat as part of the regular IMF Mission for consultations under Article IV of the IMF Articles of Agreement.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the IMF, including macroeconomic policy, sustainable development, strengthening the financial system, and Turkmenistan’s integration into the global economy.
Special attention was given to the country’s WTO accession process, modernization of the statistical system, and efforts to harmonize national legislation with international standards.
The sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue constructive and pragmatic dialogue aimed at promoting sustainable economic growth and productive partnership.

Last week the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan hosted a Turkmen-American Business Forum in a round table format, with the participation of heads of ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan and a U.S. business delegation led by Eric Stewart, Executive Director of the Turkmen-American Business Council.
The participants discussed prospects for expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States, including in industry, agriculture, water management, energy, transport, communications, construction, healthcare, environmental protection, innovative technologies and cybersecurity.
It was noted that Turkmenistan is open to effective cooperation with American companies and supports the strengthening of mutually beneficial business ties.
Special attention was paid to the role of the Turkmen-American Business Council and the newly established Turkmen-American Business Cooperation Association (TABCA) in promoting long-term partnership between the public and private sectors of both countries.
An exhibition organized by the Turkmen-American Business Council was also held as part of the forum, showcasing the potential of Turkmen-American business cooperation.
The participants expressed confidence that Turkmen-American business cooperation will continue to develop successfully and gain new practical substance.

Last week President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Eric Stewart, Executive Director of the Turkmen-American Business Council, who was visiting Turkmenistan.
The meeting focused on prospects for further expanding Turkmen-American trade and economic cooperation, including cooperation with leading U.S. companies.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized Turkmenistan’s readiness to consider specific proposals from American businesses and to further strengthen mutually beneficial partnership.
The sides expressed confidence in the continued development of bilateral economic cooperation.

On June 3, 2026, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the United States participated in a World Bicycle Day event in Washington, D.C., organized by WABA and WRI.
The event brought together representatives from Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Nepal, Lithuania, Indonesia, Guatemala, Costa Rica, the European Union, and other countries.
During the ride through downtown Washington, Embassy representatives highlighted Turkmenistan’s initiative that led to the 2018 UN General Assembly resolution proclaiming June 3 as World Bicycle Day.
Participants emphasized cycling as a simple, affordable, clean, and sustainable means of transportation that supports health, environmental protection, and sustainable development.

On May 29, 2026, a meeting was held at the White House in Washington, D.C., between Rashid Meredov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and Marco Rubio, Secretary of State of the United States of America.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects for the further development of Turkmenistan-U.S. cooperation across a wide range of areas.
The sides noted with satisfaction the recent intensification of bilateral political and diplomatic dialogue and emphasized the importance of maintaining regular contacts at senior and high levels.
Particular attention was paid to cooperation in trade and economic affairs, energy, transport, and connectivity. In this context, the sides underscored the importance of expanding mutually beneficial partnership, including in the areas of energy security and diversification of energy supply routes.
The meeting also addressed cooperation in regional security, countering current challenges and threats, as well as interaction within multilateral formats, including the C5+1 platform.
The sides noted the significant potential for further development of bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their mutual interest in continuing constructive dialogue on all areas of shared interest.
