This award is given as part of celebrations across the country. Sheriff Tuggle's Youth Mentor Program is just one of the ways he "shows up" for his community.

Detective Sergeant William “Bill” Miles of the San Diego Police Department was honored as the first recipient of the Hometown Hero Award for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of California.

Presented by U.S. Attorney Adam Gordon at DEA San Diego, this award recognizes Sgt. Miles’ extraordinary leadership, compassion, and unwavering commitment to combating the fentanyl epidemic. A 28‑year SDPD veteran and current Group Supervisor of the Overdose Response Team, Sgt. Miles has helped lead more than 315 overdose‑death investigations and contributed to a 39% drop in overdose deaths across the county.

Families, partners, and colleagues alike praise Sgt. Miles for his dedication to justice, his around‑the‑clock service, and the empathy he shows victims’ families during their most difficult moments. His work continues to make a profound impact on the safety and well‑being of our community.

During May, the USAO for the Western District of Pennsylvania collected donations of clothing, hair products, and other items for Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pa., with U.S. Attorney Rivetti and others delivering the items to DVSSP today.

As part of Freedom 250, the USAO for the District of Wyoming is honoring the country by giving back to their community! Staff gathered non-perishable items and donated them to local food banks. USAO Wyoming provided food to the Safe House in Cheyenne and the Seton House in Casper.

“Susan Graff has served the Federal Bureau of Investigation for more than thirty years,” said U.S. Attorney Adam L. Mildred. “She is currently assigned to the Indianapolis Division - Merrillville Resident Agency and is widely respected for her professionalism, institutional knowledge, and steady support to investigative teams. Her contributions have strengthened complex investigations and supported law enforcement efforts across a wide range of matters.”

Honoring a Hometown Hero 🇺🇸
U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Michigan U.S. Attorney Timothy VerHey presented the Hometown Hero Award to Benzie County Deputy Sheriff Matt McKinley at Benzie Central High School.

Deputy McKinley is one of only 93 recipients nationwide, recognized for his incredible work supporting underprivileged students — from creating an in‑school food pantry to organizing community clothing drives known as “McKinley’s Kids.”

Congratulations to Deputy McKinley on this well‑deserved honor! 👏🇺🇸
