The United Nations General Assembly designated June 24 as the International Day of Women in Diplomacy in June 2022, recognizing that the active and equal participation of women at all levels of decision-making is essential to achieving meaningful gender equality, sustainable development, peace, and democracy.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece demonstrates noteworthy achievements in terms of gender equality within its workforce. Specifically, women hold 50.1% of permanent staff positions, while their representation in leadership roles continues to increase steadily.

In Greece’s Missions Abroad, 37.7% of Heads of Mission are women, while in the Ministry’s Central Service the corresponding figure stands at 40.4%.

H Γενική Συνέλευση των Ηνωμένων Εθνών 🇺🇳 καθιέρωσε την 24η Ιουνίου ως Διεθνή Ημέρα για τις Γυναίκες στη Διπλωματία, τον Ιούνιο του 2022, αναγνωρίζοντας ότι η ενεργός και ισότιμη συμμετοχή των γυναικών σε όλα τα επίπεδα λήψης αποφάσεων είναι απαραίτητη για την επίτευξη ουσιαστικής έμφυλης ισότητας, βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης, ειρήνης και δημοκρατίας.

Το Υπουργείο Εξωτερικών 🇬🇷 επιδεικνύει αξιόλογες επιδόσεις ως προς την έμφυλη ισότητα στη σύνθεση του προσωπικού του. Συγκεκριμένα, οι γυναίκες καταλαμβάνουν το 50,1% των θέσεων του μόνιμου προσωπικού, ενώ η παρουσία τους σε θέσεις ευθύνης παρουσιάζει σταθερή άνοδο.

Στις Αρχές Εξωτερικής Υπηρεσίας, το 37,7% των επικεφαλής είναι γυναίκες, ενώ στην Κεντρική Υπηρεσία το αντίστοιχο ποσοστό ανέρχεται σε 40,4%.

Το Υπουργείο Εξωτερικών 🇬🇷 συνεχίζει να προωθεί τη γυναικεία εκπροσώπηση, με πλήρη σεβασμό στις αρχές της αξιοκρατίας, της διαφάνειας και των ίσων ευκαιριών.

Strengthening economic security through trusted technological partnerships. At a formal ceremony at the U.S. Department of State, Ambassador Antonis Alexandridis and Under Secretary of State Jacob S. Helberg signed yesterday the Pax Silica Declaration, marking the official inclusion of Greece in the PaxSilica initiative.

Ambassador Alexandridis meets with Senator Rick Scott (R-FL), member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and the Senate Armed Services Committee. Discussions focused on the steadfast cooperation between 🇬🇷 and 🇺🇸, among others in defense, and the current developments in the region.

Greece welcomes the agreement announced between the United States and Iran and praises all diplomatic efforts that contributed to this positive development. We encourage continued engagement through dialogue and diplomacy.

The restoration of unconditional freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, along with ongoing efforts aiming at lasting peace, security, and regional stability, are currently of paramount importance.

During his visit to Houston, TX, Ambassador Alexandridis met with the team of the Consulate of Greece. Strengthening ties with the Greek diaspora and providing high-quality consular services to its members remain top priorities.
