The future of shipping is evolving, and nuclear technology is at the forefront.
Captain Stephen M. Carmel, Maritime Administration - MARAD Administrator, participated in the "How Nuclear Technologies will Shape the Future Energy Economy" panel at the American Nuclear Society Annual Conference in Denver.
While a nuclear-powered merchant vessel is an exciting breakthrough, Administrator Carmel noted that focusing solely on the "shiny new technology" distracts from the necessary systems-based transition.
