The District is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch, meaning heavy winds and rain are possible. Remember that heavy rain can quickly create dangerous driving conditions.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the District until 11:00 PM today, June 14. Lightning, wind gusts up to 70 MPH, and hail are possible.

Applications are now open for the Autonomous Vehicle Observation Zone (AVO) Challenge! This challenge offers an innovative way for to explore how Autonomous Vehicles can operate in the city and provide valuable data. The winner will be eligible for a $50,000 contract to pilot their technology in DC. The application deadline is July 16, 2026.
