We've been focused on Duty Status Reform this week with the introduction of the Senate Duty Status Reform legislation on Wednesday.
ROA also recently led the charge on a House-wide engagement effort to build cosponsor support for the Duty Status Reform Act (H.R. 6976), reaching nearly every House office not yet on the bill within a 48-hour window.
H.R. 6976 would consolidate and modernize the patchwork of statutory authorities under which Reserve Component members are currently ordered to duty - aligning benefits across duty statuses, clarifying activation authorities for cyber incidents and other emergencies, and addressing long-standing inequities in how reservists accrue pay, retirement credit, and protections.

The operational reserve force of tomorrow is already here, and the future leaders of that force are already serving today.
ROA needs younger service members helping to shape where we go next. They understand the realities of balancing military service, civilian careers, technology, and operational demands because they are living it every day. Their perspective matters, and ROA will be stronger by listening to it.
ROA's no-cost Associate Membership for eligible service members under age 35 can help us get there. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

One of the things that has become increasingly clear to me is that the Reserve Component is evolving faster than many organizations around it. Today’s citizen-warriors operate in a world of rapid mobilization for overseas and homeland contingencies while balancing civilian careers, family pressure...

Our families are the heart of our military community. Keeping our families and our country safe and protected is one of the major reasons we do what we do as service members.
As Reserve Component members, we have a RIGHT to resources that help support our families as we carry out our missions and our duty to our country.
ROA is working hard to ensure that you have access to things like family services, childcare, and activation/mobilization/transition support, including a new ReserveFamily platform that is currently being developed with links to resources and information you need to support your reserve family. Stay tuned as we continue to highlight our efforts on this front!

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth committed at a recent House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense hearing to take another look at the Army Transformation Initiative following questions raised by Rep. Rosa DeLauro about the steep aviation cuts in the FY 2027 budget request — cuts driven by the ATI that include reductions to the Army Reserve’s MEDEVAC fleet.
ROA has written to Secretary Hegseth thanking him for the commitment and underscoring that Army Reserve MEDEVAC must be a central element of the ATI review.
