DC DMV has partnered with U-Haul to bring you some safe trailering tips!

If you are towing a trailer and it starts swaying, keep your hands securely on the steering wheel, take your foot off the gas and allow your vehicle to slow down naturally. Don't slam on the brakes or the gas. Pull over in an area that is safely away from traffic and adjust the distribution of your cargo to put more weight in front, before continuing.

Earlier today, DC DMV Director Gabriel Robinson went before the Committee on Transportation and the Environment to provide testimony in favor of the following bills:

• Eric’s ID Amendment Act of 2026 (B26-0619
• Washington Commanders Motor Vehicle Identification Tags Amendment Act of 2025 (B26-0548)

Both bills represent meaningful steps toward expanding choice, improving accessibility, and strengthening the connection between District Government and the residents we serve.

These bills would allow the agency to better serve the community, expand choice for residents, and strengthen our mission of accessibility, safety, and civic pride. The DC DMV is committed to providing high-quality customer service and ensuring that our policies reflect the needs, values, and diversity of District residents.
