Last week, our students visited George Washington's Mount Vernon, George Washington’s home, as part of a civics field trip celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States.
This special learning experience gave students the opportunity to explore history firsthand and learn more about U.S. history and civic engagement.

On May 31, our Executive Director, Haley Wiggins, our Director of Family Services, Yinzu Nairouz, and participants from our Circle of Latina Women Support Group joined the 11th National Gathering of Latina Women in the U.S. (11° Encuentro Nacional de Mujeres Latinas USA), hosted by Latinas USA and Dr. Claudia Campos .
During the event, we had the opportunity of reconnecting with Milagros and her son. Milagros first came to The Family Place more than 17 years ago and has been part of our community ever since. She participated in our Circle of Latina Women Support Group, volunteered with The Family Place, and now works to support her community.
We are proud of all she has accomplished and were honored to see her at this powerful gathering, where women from diverse backgrounds connected, shared their experiences, and celebrated the strength of Latina leadership.
