What an energizing day surrounded by patriots that love America’s Army! Today, I joined the Training and Transformation Command (T2COM) in Austin to celebrate the U.S. Army’s 251st birthday. T2COM, formerly Army Futures Command, is especially near and dear to my heart, because through my position on the Appropriations Committee, I was able to secure the funding to bring this transformative command to Central Texas in 2018. I’m so glad I was there to celebrate 251 years of outstanding, disciplined, brave men and women today. Happy Birthday, Army!

Between Appropriations Committee markups, I met with the constituents from the Airline Pilots Association to discuss ways to keep the skies safe, specifically Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B), a technology that allows aircraft to share their location and flight information with air traffic controllers and other aircraft in real time.

On June 6, 1944, 156,000 Allied troops bravely stormed the beaches of Normandy, France. It was a turning point in the fight against N**i Germany.

Over 4,000 Allied troops were lost, but without their bravery, the world would be a very different place. Today, we reflect on their sacrifice and honor their memory.

In May, my office assisted 329 constituents with issues like back veterans benefits, delayed Social Security payments, or owed IRS refunds. As a result, we returned $799,688 to constituents that was trapped behind bureaucratic red tape.

Every year, I nominate incredible young people to America’s military academies. It’s a grueling process that requires strong academics, extracurricular participation, grit, and determination. I was pleased to send off our TX-31 class of 2030 appointees at my annual Academy Salute over the weekend. Join me in wishing them well as they depart on the adventure of a lifetime!

It is always special to attend the Sun City Memorial Day ceremony to honor the men and women that have made the ultimate sacrifice in the fight for liberty.

05/25/2026

Today, our nation pauses in grateful remembrance of the men and women who gave their lives in defense of the freedoms we hold dear. Memorial Day is not only a day of reflection, but a sacred opportunity to honor the courage, selflessness, and devotion of those who answered the call to serve and never returned home.

Their sacrifice secured the blessings of liberty for generations of Americans. As we spend time with loved ones today, let us also remember the heroes whose service made those moments possible, and keep their families in our thoughts and prayers.
