Today we celebrate Juneteenth, a day honoring freedom, resilience, and the enduring struggle for justice.
Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Texas to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation, ensuring that enslaved Black Americans there were finally free more than two years after the proclamation was issued.
As we commemorate this day, we reflect on our history, celebrate progress, and recommit ourselves to the work that remains.
