Congolese security forces disperse protesters opposing constitutional change 06/23/2026

RM Gregory Meeks: The violent crackdown on opposition leaders and political speech in DRC is deeply troubling. The Congolese people have a constitutional right to free expression, and attempts to silence dissent undermine democracy. The DRC government must concentrate on addressing the many serious challenges facing the Congolese people and immediately stop any rights violations.

Trump's disastrous Iran war, combined with the admin's foreign aid cuts, has exacerbated global food insecurity and now threatens to push millions around the world closer to famine.

No man, woman or child should ever die of hunger. This is avoidable. The US must do more to help.

U.S. Temporarily Lifts Sanctions on Iranian Oil 06/22/2026

While ending this illegal war is better than disastrously doubling down, the admin’s steps are inconsistent with its own rhetoric about how it would approach any deal.

Trump officials repeatedly said sanctions relief would be tied to Iran addressing its nuclear program and terrorist proxies. Neither has been addressed, but the regime has been gifted sweeping sanctions relief it has dreamed of for decades.

U.S. Temporarily Lifts Sanctions on Iranian Oil In a sharp reversal of American policy, the Treasury announced a 60-day reprieve, permitting the sale of Iranian crude as part of the preliminary U.S.-Iran deal toward ending the war.

RM Gregory Meeks: The people of Colombia deserve free, fair and peaceful elections. Every eligible voter must be allowed to cast their ballot safely and without intimidation on Sunday. A strong U.S.-Colombia relationship is in both countries interests and I look forward to working with whoever the Colombian people choose to advance our partnership.

USAID OIG released an advisory on the Trump admin withholding family planning commodities overseas.

Rather than deliver these taxpayer-funded supplies, the admin is paying millions to let them expire in a warehouse.

This is ACTUAL waste of American tax dollars.

Family Planning Commodities: USAID Should Provide Final Disposition Instructions to Stop Accruing Storage Costs for $8 Million in Unusable Items and $1.7 Million in Nearly Expired Items in Belgium | Office of Inspector General Advisory Report Number 1-000-26-003-A Jun 10, 2026 In order to best safeguard U.S.-taxpayer funded commodities, we are alerting USAID about the need to provide final disposition instructions to its contractor, Chemonics International, for $9.7 million in family planning commodities stored in Belgium...
