Americans deserve real solutions to their health care issues that the Fair Care Act provides, not partisan talking points and inaction.

The Fair Care Act takes politics out of the equation and introduces common sense and competition to the health care marketplace. It covers preexisting conditions, lowers costs, and increases consumer choice by incorporating bipartisan proposals, proven academic research, and scientific data. But most importantly, it is legislation that will give Americans fair coverage at a fair price.

As the world’s population rapidly increased during the mid-twentieth century, many feared widespread famine would become inevitable. The Green Revolution emerged as a response to this growing crisis, forever changing the way food was produced and distributed. The revolution was a major transformation in agriculture that extended far beyond the farm, impacting everyday life for Americans and people around the world.

The revolution started in 1943 when the Rockefeller Foundation joined forces with the government of Mexico to launch the Mexican Agricultural Program (MAP). Scientist Norman Borlaug, who oversaw the MAP’s wheat production, developed high-yield seed varieties that could withstand harsh climates and resist diseases. He then brought his modern irrigation techniques to developing nations. His efforts ultimately saved billions of lives from hunger. In recognition of his contributions, Borlaug received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970, “for having given a well-founded hope.” His acceptance of this award provided the esteemed agronomist and humanitarian the opportunity to emphasize the need for continued progress in agricultural research on the global stage. He also highlighted the importance of advancements for education, housing, and healthcare in the fight against poverty and hunger.

Memorialized in bronze in our nation’s Capitol building, Norman Borlaug’s statue is a highlight on Congressman Westerman’s night tours. As we continue celebrating our nation’s 250th anniversary, these stories are a reminder of how American innovation and ingenuity have changed the world.

Hot Springs National Park served as the perfect backdrop for last week’s House Committee on Natural Resources GOP field hearing, demonstrating how the Great American Outdoors Act 250 investments can spur new public-private partnerships, create jobs, and sustain billions of dollars in spending within rural and gateway communities.

The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Arkansas does excellent work to support our state’s industrial and commercial construction industry. Their promotion of merit shop principles, the tools they provide their members, and their industry leadership prove to be vital to the communities they serve. Congressman Westerman had a great time meeting with representatives from ABC this week and looks forward to supporting legislation that promotes competition and excellence in the construction industry and beyond.

It’s time for a common sense, bipartisan solution to solve America’s health care problem. The Fair Care Act of 2026 was reintroduced to do just that.

Afterschool programs across Arkansas work to empower and inspire students to learn, develop critical skills, and provide them with safe environments after school and throughout the summer. Congressman Westerman welcomed the opportunity to meet with Founder of High Impact Movement and AfterSchool Alliance Ambassador, Amos Gray, and Tina Jones with the Four States Urban Development Project-Read and Rise Program.

It was inspiring to hear how deeply impactful their work has been not only for our students, but for so many families and communities across the Fourth District. Learning more about how Congress can help bolster these programs and create more opportunities to invest in our youth was a highlight of today’s discussion.
