This month, Grey TV reporter Heather Graf highlighted Digital Pioneers Academy's participation in the $50 Study, which examines whether a modest weekly cash payment can help reduce barriers to attendance and improve student well-being, focus, and academic engagement.

A special thank you to members of the DPA Class of 2026, Brian Gale, Keenan Parker, and Sharon Skinner, for sharing their experiences as participants in the study, and to the Rooted School Foundation for selecting DPA as a partner in this important research initiative.

At DPA, we're proud to support innovative approaches that help students overcome barriers to attendance and succeed in school.

We are thrilled to welcome Neema Desai to Digital Pioneers Academy as our Middle School Principal starting July, 2026.

Neema brings deep experience as a K-8 educator and school leader, along with a passion for creating schools where every student can thrive and every educator feels supported.

What stands out about Neema is her belief that every child has tremendous potential and her commitment to building school communities that help students, families, and educators succeed. She is a collaborative, mission-driven leader who brings both experience and heart to serving young people.

As DPA continues to grow, we are excited for the leadership Neema will bring to our scholars, staff, and families. We know she will make a meaningful impact on our community.

On May 20, DPA came together for Senior Signing Day, one of our favorite traditions and a celebration of the Class of 2026.

Part pep rally and part milestone celebration, the event gives seniors the opportunity to announce their postsecondary plans and inspire younger scholars. We intentionally hold it in our middle school so our younger students can see what is possible through hard work and perseverance.

This year's graduating class has earned more than $13 million in college scholarships. As we look ahead to graduation on June 9, we couldn't be prouder of all they have accomplished.

Watch the short video below to hear what Senior Signing Day means to our scholars.

πŸŽ“ Congratulations, Class of 2026!

Earlier this month, DPA seniors Brian Gale Jr. and Jakera Watson joined DPA CEO Mashea Ashton in testifying before the DC City Council about how the $50 Study has impacted their educational journeys.

The $50 Study, a program run by the Fifty and Rooted Schools Foundation, provides students with weekly financial incentives designed to encourage school attendance and teach financial literacy through savings. Together, they advocated for continued funding to sustain the program at DPA and expand access for students across other DC high schools.

We are incredibly proud of our seniors for using their voices to advocate not only for themselves, but for future students as they prepare for the next chapter in college and beyond. Thank you, DC Board Chair Phil Mendelson, for inviting us to testify.

At Digital Pioneers Academy, we are preparing the leaders of today β€” and tomorrow.
