You shouldn’t need a forensic accountant to understand your own state budget. 🔍
So I became one.
Naperville, District 41 needs a rep who can actually follow the money — not just talk about it.

Abraham Lincoln understood that leadership begins by listening to people where they are.
Standing in Mount Vernon, I’m reminded that good leadership isn’t about headlines.
It’s about earning trust, solving problems, and putting people first.

Thank you to all the Women Veterans who have served
June 12th was Women Veterans Recognition Day.
There’s a name on the Wall I visit every time I’m in Washington. His mother spent her life hoping he would come home someday. She never got that answer. His remains finally came home years later. I still stop and visit his name for her.
That’s what this place does. It pulls you back. It may be my father’s war, but it’s my history.
The first time I stood at the Vietnam Women’s Memorial was in 1993 as a kid, watching the dedication.
More than thirty years later, I still find myself coming back to the Wall, the Three Soldiers, and this statue.
As a Navy veteran, this memorial means something different to me now than it did then.
I think about the women I served with. The sailors who stood the watch, deployed, missed holidays, spent months away from their families, and carried the same responsibilities as everyone else wearing the uniform.
For too many years, women veterans were asked questions many men never heard.
“Are you here with your husband?”
“Was your father in the military?”
People assumed they were visitors instead of veterans.
Thankfully, that’s changing.
The women I served alongside were some of the most capable and professional service members I ever knew.
Every time I visit this memorial, I remember why I stop here. Not because it’s on a list of places to see in Washington, but because the stories, the service, and the people who wore the uniform deserve to be remembered.
The memorial doesn’t ask whether you were a visitor or a veteran. Neither should we.
To all the women who served: thank you.
