A sensitization meeting on the prevention and control of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and Japanese Encephalitis (JE) was conducted with the lecturers of Baksa Polytechnic. The programme focused on enhancing awareness regarding disease transmission, early symptom recognition, preventive measures, and the importance of community participation in reducing the risk of AES/JE.

The session was attended by the District Malaria Officer, District Surveillance Officer, and EIS Officers from NCDC, New Delhi, who shared valuable insights on surveillance, prevention, and outbreak response strategies.

Bed Net Impregnation (ITBN) and active fever screening activities are being carried out across various parts of the district as part of intensified malaria prevention and surveillance measures. Health teams are visiting communities, screening fever cases, promoting early testing and treatment, and ensuring the proper use of insecticide-treated mosquito nets.

These coordinated efforts aim to reduce malaria transmission and safeguard vulnerable populations through early detection, prompt treatment, and community participation.

A field investigation of a Japanese Encephalitis positive case was carried out by the District Surveillance Officer, District Malaria Officer, BPM, and other district and block officials of Jalah BPHC. The team assessed the case, conducted epidemiological investigations, reviewed the local situation, and initiated necessary surveillance, vector control, and community awareness measures to prevent further transmission of the disease.

As part of intensified malaria prevention and control activities, Bed Net Impregnation Camps were conducted in vulnerable villages to enhance protection against mosquito bites and reduce the risk of malaria transmission.

Community members actively participated by bringing their bed nets for insecticide treatment. Alongside the activity, awareness was also provided on the proper use of bed nets, early diagnosis of fever cases, and the importance of completing malaria treatment.

Glimpses of ongoing Fever Screening and IEC Camps conducted in various parts of Baksa District as part of intensified efforts for prevention and control of malaria and other vector-borne diseases.

The camps focused on active fever surveillance, early testing, prompt referral, and community awareness through IEC activities on mosquito bite prevention, use of bednets, source reduction, and early treatment seeking. Such field-level interventions are essential in protecting communities and strengthening public health response in high-risk areas.
