MLGRD ASSESSES REVISED CASH FOR WORK SYSTEM

Kalulushi - 24 June, 2026

A team from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD), in collaboration with SMART Zambia Institute, conducted User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of the revised Cash for Work Management Information System (CFWMIS) at Kalulushi Municipal Council.

The exercise involved council staff, Data Entry Clerks and Ward Development Committee members testing key system functions to assess the system’s functionality, validate its performance, strengthen technical preparedness, and support its successful nationwide rollout and implementation.

The upgraded system is expected to enhance data management, improve accountability, and increase efficiency in the administration of the Cash for Work Programme. Following the successful completion of the testing process, the system is expected to be rolled out to local authorities across the country.

KALULUSHI MUNICIPAL COUNCIL GOES DIGITAL

24 June 2026- Kalulushi

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, The Ministry of Finance and National Planning, and The Smart Zambia Institute today visited Kalulushi Municipal Council to provide technical support following the rollout of the Government Service Bus (GSB) platform.

Kalulushi Municipal Council is among the 8 local authorities that have gone live on the ZamPortal, a 24-hour government digital platform that enables citizens to access council services online, eliminating the need for physical queues and reducing bureaucratic delays.

This digital migration forms part of the Government's commitment to improving service delivery and operational efficiency by providing citizens with a secure, convenient, and accessible way of interacting with the local authority.

Through the e-Council platform, residents and business entities can now access services 24/7 and conveniently make payments for market levies, bus station fees, outdoor advertising, occupancy permits, health permits, fire certificates, and other council services.

The system is expected to enhance service delivery, improve transparency and accountability, consolidate resources, and reduce revenue leakages.

To ensure smooth implementation, officers from various departments have undergone training on the operation and management of the GSB system.

So far, 10 council services have been deployed to the platform and can now be accessed through the e-Council Portal and ZamPortal.
